DETAILS OF DEATH

Raggat and Harvey died from injuries they sustained in a motorcycle collision at West Beach on December 31 1955. With colleague Donald Leonard Mewett they had been riding their police motorcycles in single file along Tapleys Hill Road about 10:30pm. Just then another motorcycle ridden by a civilian and approaching from the opposite direction collided with the police officers’ motorcycles. The civilian died instantly Raggatt two days later and Harvey, who never regained consciousness, on July 23 1956. Mewett emerged unharmed.
