DETAILS OF DEATH

On the night of 5 December 1951 Senior Constable Mills was riding a Police motor cycle from Mt Victoria Police Station to Blackheath Police Station. Whilst travelling along the Great Western Highway he noticed a vehicle travelling without lights. He stopped the vehicle and while he was speaking to the driver a passing vehicle struck Constable Mills and two other men. All three were treated at the scene and conveyed to the Blue Mountains District Hospital however Constable Mills died the following day. The Constable was born in 1905 and joined the New South Wales Police Force on 12 February 1930. At the time of his death he was stationed at Mt Victoria.
