On 17 November, 2023, Brevet Sergeant Jason Christopher DOIG, aged 53 years, tragically lost his life while on duty. He was responding to a call at a property in Senior, near the Victorian border, in South Australia’s upper south-east. His death is a solemn reminder of the risks police officers face in the line of duty.
Brevet Sergeant DOIG was one of three officers who attended the property, and he tragically died at the scene as a result of a fatal gunshot. Sergeant Michael Hutchinson was injured, while Constable Rebekah Cass remained uninjured and provided critical support to her colleagues during this harrowing incident.
