About 1.30 a.m. Wednesday 13 November 1957 First Constable Brennan was returning from Bendigo to Sea Lake having taken a prisoner to the Bendigo watch-house. He collided with a truck on the Calder Highway at Kurtin via Inglewood and died at the scene of the accident. He had commenced duty at 8.30 a.m. the previous day.
