DETAILS OF DEATH

Trooper John Crockett was stationed at Apsley and died of injuries received after an accidental fall from his horse. He had not long left Kempton when his horse stumbled causing the trooper to fall. Trooper Crockett’s right leg was caught in the stirrup and his head struck the ground. Witnesses went to his assistance transporting the unconscious rider to Kempton in their cart. He was then transported to the General Hospital Hobart where he died.
