DETAILS OF DEATH

Senior Constable John Zegenhagen was appointed to the Commonwealth Police Force in January 1974. On 9 June 1978 he was engaged in diplomatic and consular security in Brisbane. In the early morning his Commonwealth Police vehicle left the road and plunged into the Brisbane River. Senior Constable Zegenhagen suffered critical injuries and died on 4August 1984 after being in a coma for over six years.
