DETAILS OF DEATH

Constable Robertson had been stationed at Macquarie Plains for five years when he was killed crossing a railway line on the 9th April 1944. He was riding his motorcycle with two young passengers in the side car who were also killed in the accident. Constable Robertson died the next morning in the Royal Hobart Hospital he stated he had not heard the train whistle or seen the train approaching.
