On Saturday, 30 May 1891, Probationary Constable O’Brien was performing duties on George Street, Sydney, when he pursued a horse and cart. The Constable sustained severe internal injuries when he was run over by the horse and cart.On Sunday, 31 May 1891, he died of the injuries sustained in the incident.
