DETAILS OF DEATH

Constable Iles attended a domestic disturbance at the home of Brian William Robinson in Espon Ave, Belmont. Whilst Iles was walking toward the front door of the house, Robinson shot him with a rifle from an open window, wounding him. Robinson then ran from the house to where Iles was laying, jumped the fence, pushing the now kneeling officer over with his foot and shot him in the head, killing him instantly. Robinson was arrested shortly after and sentenced to death by hanging. Const. Iles joined the Police Force 29 March 1955.
