DETAILS OF DEATH

It is not known what date Mounted Constable Thomas Edward McNulty joined the Northern Territory Police.  He was a returned World War 1 veteran and held the rank of Mounted Constable at the time of his death on the 28th November 1917, aged 45 years.

Mounted Constable Thomas McNulty fell overboard whilst returning back to Darwin from Groote Eylandt in the gulf of Carpentaria.  He was on the schooner “Albatross”, bringing back several witnesses required in connection with a tragedy at Port Bradshaw.

His body was never recovered.  It is believed he potentially suffered a medical episode and fell into the water, as he was known to be a strong swimmer.  He was observed to fall overboard by the helmsman, however never resurfaced.
